A Mismatch Made in Heaven Unfortunately For Everyone
As Episode 5 of Green Mothers’ Club begins, we notice that we are back at Jin-Ha’s house. Eun-Pyo however is not kissed by Luis. He rather requests her to prevent Jin-Ha from being aware that he is in the context of writing a book. Eun-Pyo consents, and as a result, she excuses herself and goes home.
The ladies, in the morning, once again assemble for coffee along with some snacks. With the tests coming soon, Su-In is most certainly going to work in conjunction with Henry once more. Chun-Hui has in mind who she will be wanting to play with however Eun-Pyo is also defensive over whom Dong-Seok is prepared to partner with.
But she did not have her way for long as she was interrupted by a call from Jin-Ha requesting for assistance. This call first dispersed this little gathering as she was seeking assistance related to the exhibition, particularly in terms of how people should respond to her creations. Eun-Pyo is not very thrilled to be singled out, claiming this is just Jin-Ha’s way of saying that she is a better painter than Eun-Pyo. Inoue is stunned at the sudden turn of events when her assistant asks whether she can help with the introductory remarks of the exhibition she is organizing.
In pondering over this, Eun-Pyo discovers a number of messages from other women asking Dong-Seok to join them. And now they have come to this! When Chun-Hui considers sending Eun-Pyo a message with a request, she has a second thought and picks Young-Bin after school. While she is on her way, she gets a call from Man-Su, which unsettles her completely. In fact, she replies to messages and requests Man-Su to erase her from his contact list.
Nevertheless, towards the end of the episode, she does find time to see Man-Su and asks him what’s happening. Man-Su seems to be uneasy about her, even going as far as saying that Chun-Hui is reckless. They somehow did have an argument, and it seemed to revolve around the pharmacy, and the mix up may have been cause by Chun-Hui not Man-Su. Let us wait and see.
Jin-Ha does not care and she remains persistent, pushing herself into Eun-Pyo’s home and this time, her mother is present as well when she does that. They go out for food with her, reluctantly, in which Jin-Ha talks about her success stories all day long. Even when Jin-Pyo is saying goodbye, she hugs Eun-Pyo’s mother. She remains silent though when she hears the conversation between Eun-Pyo and her mother. Her mother doesn’t even see a point in recalling Jin-Ha, only a few years ago, they were surprisingly close, which must have made things tough for Jin-Ha to hear.
During the exhibition, Eun-Pyo has an abrupt meeting with Professor Joon Ki, the very Professor whose knees she scrubbed for acceptance. In any case, they are related to each other evolution and to make matters worse, Jin-Ha makes Eun Pyo’s well-being a priority along with the Professor.
For her, this was the last straw and so she walks out. Jin-Ha’s squinted eyes and rude expression suggest that this was a setup, though who knows about operative spirits at this moment. Eun-Pyo on the contrary is still mourning this entire chaos and in an accidental situation, stained her white dress (we have all cried about this Eun-Pyo!) and started weeping.
The Following Day and Jin-Ha apologizes after dropping off her kids. But for Eun-Pyo, this just serves to further her belief that Jin-Ha does simply not like her, that this visit proved. She made a fool of Eun-Pyo in the past too, when shortly after she confessed her feelings to a guy named Tae-Hun, Jin-Ha got together with him, and started exhibiting the same exhibitions as she did. While Luis’s name is mentioned, Eun-Pyo reigns herself in, cuts the topic off, and declares her wish to stay clear of this matter. They are not friends nor will they be friends in the future.
There is definitely something not right with Jin-Ha. After finding out that her mother is deceased (this explains her desire in forming that relationship with Eun-Pyo’s mother) she just pops a ton of pills and goes to sleep in her bedroom.
However, Mr. Wong is also in the hospital and leaves the path of care to send Eun-Pyo on an errand to watch eugo as she is taking care of Henry. Henry has completely lost it and is in floods of tears. As he’s searching for his toy, Tory, all of them would accompany him to his house.
Eun-Pyo and Luis go and have a warm drink in the parlor after all the kids fall asleep. While enjoying each other’s warmth, she asks him in a vexed manner why he chose Jin-Ha over her. For example, “Was my meat not sufficient quality?” she inquires.
Unfortunately, at the same time, Jin-Ha arrives at the house declaring that she will commit suicide by jumping off the building. As a result, Eun-Pyo grabs the children and leaves. It results to a standoff between Luis and Jin-Ha. With full-blown rage, she shatters a glass plate on the floor and begins hurling curses while running down the hall. Poor Henry is in his room, utterly terrified by the sounds of teh commotion. Oh, poor him.
He reassures her that she is not the cause of any of the happiness he has ever been able to experience in their marriage. Although that was not his intention, he ultimately walks out, gasping for air out on the balcony.
Jin-Ha picks up the phone number and begins to make it in calls, talking angrily to Eun-Pyo. She suspects her of making advances on Luis. It is awful somewhere Alejandro needs the aid of linking Eun-Pyo. And because of that, she ignores him and lets her kid tumble to the ground where he’ll break his leg.
Eun-Pyo drives little Dong-Ju to the hospital, but lost without her incompetent partner, she calls for Chun-Hui instead. While they wait in the waiting room, Eun-Pyo has the sense of self guilt as a mother. However, Chun-hui gently grabs her hands and re-affirms her.
The next day, Jin-Ha is meeting again with Eun-pyo, and she says she is leaving. But she does not do that without first bothering to ask Eun-Pyo if she wants her to go. Eun-Pyo considers this and is surprised when Jin-Ha rises so easily and walks towards the road and in a way runs in front of a white truck or does she? All these events are put up by a horrible dream.
When Eun-Pyo goes out to throw away some garbage, she realizes that it is Jin-Ha’s body lying in the rain and drenched in water on the floor and motionless.
Episode Review
I came across this comment online and it explains why in a way I share the same feeling about the Green Mothers’ Club. ” I have no idea what this show is trying to be?”
I have reasons to believe that unpredictability is a good thing, but rather the style of this episode is in stark contrast to everything we’ve seen previously. But then again, I actually quite like it to the point that I feel that this show may head towards being next to Penthouse or Sky Castle and both of those shows distinctly address their characters and fans. I just feel that this one won’t be able to compete if it goes that way.
What is however disturbing is the amount of screen time dedicated to the kids during this episode. There is not much we hear from Dong-Seok other than his brother’s leg breaking information. However there are a few plot snatches with the adults that are quite enticing to lessen the disappointment.
Without a doubt, the stories surrounding Man-Su and Chun-Hui, the bag controversy, and Jin-Ha’s past are particularly interesting and engaging. There are promises that have been made and will be fulfilled in due course, but we will have to wait and see how this one unfolds in the next episode. Until then, let us look forward to what the new episode has to offer!
